First, we love the illustrations that tell so many little stories that aren’t in the words. Can you spy the little mouse? Just what is that little boy going to do with the bottle of water?
Second, we love the rhythmic story that is funny and realistic about what it’s like to take a little one to the supermarket, and what it’s like to be a small child in the supermarket. The pace of the story is reminiscent of Dr Suess, which makes it a pleasure to read out loud and really holds your listenee’s attention.
Thirdly, this is a really inclusive book. It’s a book about dad. It’s a book where mum and dad are mixed race, but not about them being mixed race. It’s a world where adults don’t always get it right, but one where you can do something positive to fix your mistakes. It’s a book about working together to fix things instead of wasting your energy passing blame. You should read it!
